From my experience in the UK I’ve seen no one pay upfront from own pocket or save to go later in life. Pretty much everyone has taken out the government loan for tuition fees here.
Not surprisingly, some US conservatives would say, “If you want an education, then work for it.”. However, normally that’s impossible for the youth – unless they go in the military. So should they have to?
I think a loan should be available to everyone. I think different degrees should be priced differently depending on its value. And the loan should obviously have to be repaid. The conservative stance in the UK is take the loan and repay it. Which I think is relatively fair. The other side of the spectrum here says university degrees should be free. Which I’m not sure I particularly agree with.
