Webhosting - Martin - 05-09-2018

Where do you host your website? Is it free or paid?

I use Namecheap's shared hosting currently which is paid but cheap. I used it because it was one of the first things I've found. It's OK but I wouldn't mind finding a better possible solution in the future.

I actually host my website locally on a server computer, so this pretty much eliminates the cost of a webhost. I have very fast upload internet speed which helps in this regard. I also use Namecheap for my domain name, but since I'm hosting locally I've done what I can to increase the security of my website. I recommend using cloudflare if you don't already, best thing I've ever done. With Namecheap it's as simple as changing the name servers.

Ultimately though when I do receive enough traffic to warrant a web host, I'd probably go with host gator.

I use Interserver for two of my projects (one being my forum). They are relatively cheap, only $5 per month for each site and that price is locked which means I know that will be the price for my hosting forever. They are pretty good, I've never had any problems with them.

I thought about moving over to new hosts for many years but end of the day I think I will stay where I am on shared cloud hosting with hostgator. And I'm aware who owns it. I pay like $5 a month. Had an deal for three years and did not cost that much.

I'm a firm believer in "You get what you pay for" so i'm always going to recommend paid hosting over free hosting. I personally use HawkHost. I've been using them since 2010 and I haven't had any real issues that would make me leave their service. Smile
