Forums or blogs - which is more profitable today? - EfficientNinja - 05-11-2018

Hello, webmasters!
As website owners, you might have experienced owning both forums and blogs. Which of them do you think is more profitable today? Due to social media and video sites like YouTube, many of the websites aren't receiving traffic and in turn, will not generate that much ad revenue. Which of these two do you think is easier to create and maintain?
I personally believe that forums are harder to start and maintain because you will need forum members to generate content.
What are your thoughts?

Blogs without a doubt, if you committed to a blog, and you start to get heaps of followers, then companies are going to want to advertise on it, i have seen some wealthy people because of their blogs, both a hard work, but forum won't generate the amount of money that some are making at the moment through advertisements.

I also think blogs are more profitable, but it's one of those things now where carving out a niche can be difficult. I feel like it's an oversaturated market...so many people have blogs about so many different topics that I think it's hard to stand out.

If you can find something unique to write about or are already known in some capacity I think that makes it a lot easier.

I’ve only ever really earnt anything from blogs myself. They are a lot easier to earn from with things like affiliate marketing and adsense seems to preform better on blogs. Forums are a tough slog. Mainly as passion projects.
