Would you be living a comfortable life when you retire? - Kakashi2020 - 05-30-2018
The objective of working is for a person to earn money to support himself and his family and to work until he reaches the point in which he could retire comfortably. But this seldom happens, the sad reality in my country is that when a person retires, he just gets a small retirement fund that can easily be spent in a year or two and some government retirement pension that is so low that it can't even support the retirees food bill.

Well, a lot of my planning and hard work today and in the next few years are related to being able to enjoy myself both whilst working and afterwards - so hopefully that goes to plan. But you are right, pensions and savings for retirement are typically poor nowadays and many people can struggle.

You have a valid argument there and I agree with what you are saying. The thing with working for the Government and I notice this with most countries - the benefits are great but the payment from Monthly salary and Pension program are absolutely horrendous. People usually assume that an individual working for the Government are well-payed and treated when the reality is they are nothing more than tools - they use you and forget about you. Even here in the US, the way the government treats some of their Veterans is absolutely disgusting and these are people who put their lives at risk to keep their country safe.

After years of hardwork, I will definitely retire when I know there will be enough money. And I will definitely enjoy life after my retirement.

That's the general idea of retirement - to live a comfortable life and enjoy while you can. However, it's not always the case because like me, I lost my job when I was 50 and was able to find another employment although the income was way below my standards. Fortunately, I enjoyed that job that's why I had no regrets. My reliance on my wife has given me confidence in doing what I want, of course there's also the angle of earnings. But when my wife retires 5 years from now, I hope that we can have enough for our subsistence.

I have a job, however, it is not a permanent job. Therefore I am excluded from retirement plans and provident fund benefits. I will not have a secured retirement unless I get a permanent job. I have bought a 25 years insurance policy. When it matures, I will be at the retirement age. I will have some money to get started. However, this fund is still insufficient to live comfortably in old age.

I want to believe so what's the essence of working so hard today if I can't live well tomorrow. So yes I'm sure will live a better life tomorrow or when I retire.I'm really putting things in place, saving money, trying to invest and also working towards having so much money .

I hoped for a good retirement life and the way i look at it, savings and pensions is mainly just a tool to help with the essential needs. The only way to sustain your needs even in retirement is to have a business of your own at the early part of your life and let it grow until it's sustainable. When the business is sustainable enough you can have it managed by someone else, by then you can say that its time to retire and live with what you've earned.

I have a good amount saved up for my age, but I'm still young and definitely would not be able to survive long on what I have. I also need to be 59 1/2 when I retire (or older) to get the best tax advantages.
